Enviro 08 is the premier national conference in Australia dealing with Environmental and Sustainability issues. It is a major initiative of the Australian Water Association and the Waste Management Association of Australia designed specifically by industry for industry.
Since its inception in 2000, Enviro has been a platform for promoting change through ideas, the sharing of knowledge, information and practical resources to better equip those facing the challenges of climate change in all its manifestations.
There is no doubt that our leaders in government, industry and business together with water, waste, energy and sustainability practitioners are facing major challenges in their response to climate change and global warming.
Day one will provide grounding in the key issues across the conference themes followed by more detailed discussions on days two and three.
There are entire streams devoted to water and water operators, waste management, resource recovery, energy, facilitating change, sustainable cities and climate change.
An excellent line-up of keynote speakers and detailed presentations has been assembled from Australia and overseas. Confirmed speakers include: Professor Ian Lowe AO (Australian Conservation Foundation); Dr Kerry Schott (Sydney Water); Jason Clarke (Minds at Work); Professor Peter Newman (Murdoch University); Gavin Murray (ANZ); Dr Peter Gleick (Pacific Institute USA); Garth Hickle (Minnesota Pollution Control Agency USA)
A free Young Professionals Breakfast will be held on the third day with special Guest Speaker, Alan Preiss from McArthur Management Services who will talk about how to remain employable and in-demand in a world of rapidly accelerating change.
Enviro 08 is not only a Conference but also a major sustainability exhibition. This year we are pleased to have been able to attract for the first time the Australian Technology Showcase Pavilion which will display the latest in Australian innovation in the sustainability area.
The Exhibition will be open for the three days of the Conference and is free to all who register for entry, click here to book your free pass now or go to the registration desk in the Exhibition Centre during the Conference.
Discounted registration and exhibition space is available for AWA and WMAA members.
This is the EVENT of the year – don’t miss out!
The Australian Government is pleased to support this important industry conference at a time when our environment is facing challenges on many fronts.
I am enormously encouraged to see industry taking the initiative to explore and adopt more sustainable ways of doing business - ways which will ultimately contribute to a better environment for us all. Australian industry has a unique opportunity to be leaders in adopting practices which impact more lightly on the planet. Many committed companies are already taking that path and I congratulate them. Our environmental future will depend not on one single action or silver bullet, but rather on the sum of many actions by individuals, communities, industry and government. We are in this together and together we can make a difference.
I wish you all well for Enviro08.
